Hi everyone, I’m Kassie and I would like to thank you for visiting VOTH.  I created and manage this site as a way to connect farmers to each other and to educate consumers.  I grew up on my grandparents’ dairy farm in Athens, Maine, where I raised Holsteins, Angus, and LaMancha goats.  The farm sold in 2009 but I still have a small herd of beef cows.  I am attending the University of Maine where I major in Sustainable Agriculture and Animal Science.  I plan to graduate in 2011 and start my own diversified dairy.  I enjoy talking about agriculture and of course my cows.  I started this site because I believe that the general public mainly hears negative stories about agriculture in the media and I want to work to change that.  This site is a chance for farmers to educate consumers and one another about modern agriculture and offers them a place to let their voice be “herd”.  I hope you enjoy the site and please email me at [email protected] with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Karen Wenrick-Editorial

Karen grew up in Madison, Wisconsin in the 60s and 70s and spent her summers as a teenager living on a farm in Elroy, Wisconsin,  where she tended a large garden, raised chickens, milked cows, bailed hay and did other farm chores.  She loved every minute of the hard work she was doing.  Karen states that "This farm and the people on it is where I learned respect and a good work ethic.  I tried to learn to cook but even the dog wouldn't eat it so the guys said they buried it in the yard!"  Since then she has married, raised three children and is currently a flight attendant living in Peachtree City, Georgia.  She dreams  of being self sustaining and owning her own organic farm with good Wisconsin dirt.  In the mean time she will continue to buy organic when she can and live a healthy, simple lifestyle.
